Quick answer: The best clit vibrator for most people is the Womanizer Premium 2, an air-pulse toy that sucks and massages your clit without touching the glans. Want swirling, oral-style motion instead? Get the LELO Ora 3. Deep, rumbly power? The Magic Wand Mini. Spending less? The Lily Lover ($58.95) pairs suction with a buzzing tongue.
A clit vibrator (or clitoral stimulator) is any toy made to pleasure your clit from the outside: with air pulses, licking, buzzing, tapping, pulsing or water. And your clit is where a lot of the action is. In a national survey of 1,055 US women published in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy (2018), 36.6% said they needed clitoral stimulation to orgasm during intercourse, and another 36% said they didn't need it, but their orgasms felt better with it.
This guide is for anyone with a clit, whatever your gender. You'll get our ten picks, one for every kind of touch, a spec table that puts them side by side, what each sensation actually feels like, how to use one step by step, nine techniques and the best positions for bringing one into sex. The 10 best clit vibrators of 2026
Here's why each one made the list, what it feels like and who should skip it. The bold line under each photo is the quick spec from its product page.
1. Best for most people: Womanizer Premium 2
$148.95 · air-pulse clit stimulator · 14 intensity levels plus Autopilot · two head sizes · IPX7
If you already know you love air pulse, this is the one to get. The Premium 2 settles over your clit and uses pulses of air to suck and massage it, with nothing touching the glans at all. The sensation is a pull that builds and builds.
Fourteen intensity levels run from a light pull to a deep, insistent draw. Two head sizes come in the box, so you can pick whichever fits snugly over you instead of hoping. Switch on Autopilot and it slides between intensities by itself, so you can't brace for what's next. It only runs when it's touching skin and drops to standby when you lift it away. You get up to 240 minutes of play from a 120-minute USB charge, it's IPX7 for the bath, and it's about 6.1 inches long.
Skip it if: you love a broad, rumbly vibration across your vulva. Air pulse is focused. Get the wand.

2. Best for an oral-sex feel: LELO Ora 3
$150.95 · rotating, vibrating nub · 12 pleasure settings · silicone, polycarbonate and ABS
The Ora 3 is built to recreate the feel of oral sex, and it does it with motion, not suction. Its nub rotates while it vibrates, swirling against your clit while the vibration hums underneath. If your favorite part of being eaten out is the swirling, this is your toy.
The node is shaped to give a firm, controlled feel, and 12 pleasure settings pair the rotation with a range of vibration patterns. Add a generous slick of water-based lube and it glides. Want a partner's tongue too? Hand them our guide to eating pussy and compare notes.
Skip it if: you want hands-free play or a bath toy. The product page lists no water rating, so keep this one out of the tub.
3. Best clit and G-spot together: Womanizer Duo 2
$183.95 · air-pulse clit head plus G-spot arm · 14 intensity levels · 10 vibration patterns · IPX7
The Duo 2 is a rabbit with an air-pulse head where the clit arm usually is. Pleasure Air wraps your clit in pulsating waves and gentle suction, touchless, while a flexible inner arm curves up to press deep, rumbly vibration into your G-spot. Two sensations at once is the recipe for a blended orgasm.
You get 14 intensity levels, plus 10 vibration patterns. Afterglow drops it to a lower setting after you come, for a gentle finish instead of an abrupt stop, and it switches itself off when it isn't touching skin. IPX7, so the bath is fair game. New to the idea? Read our blended orgasm guide, then browse more rabbit vibrators.
Skip it if: you only want external play. You'd be paying for an arm you won't use.
4. Best bullet and best small clit vibrator: We-Vibe Tango X
$67.95 · pinpoint bullet · 7 vibration modes · 120 minutes per charge · IPX7
Small doesn't mean weak. The Tango X is about 3.9 inches long and fits in your palm, and its vibration is deep and rumbly, not thin and buzzy. Its petite, precise shape lets you aim every bit of it precisely: on the hood, beside the glans, in tight circles along one side.
It's a precise addition to partnered sex, too, small enough to slide between two bodies in missionary. Seven modes, a travel lock so it doesn't wake up in your bag, about 120 minutes of play per USB charge, and IPX7. More options live in our bullet vibrators.
Skip it if: you want suction or licking. A bullet is pure vibration.
5. Best wand: Magic Wand Mini Rechargeable
$89.95 · compact cordless wand · 6,000 RPM brushless motor · 3 intensity levels
Some clits want precision. Some want deep, thudding rumble pressed against your vulva. That second kind is what a wand does best, and the Mini brings it in a size you can actually travel with. Inside is a 6,000 RPM brushless motor, and what you feel is deep, rumbly vibration, not a shallow buzz, through a soft silicone head while the neck flexes to follow your body.
Three intensity levels sit right under your thumb. Rest the head on your mound or over your underwear on the lowest setting, and let it spread. If other vibrators have felt tickly, a rumbly wand is worth a try. Want the long version? Read our Magic Wand Mini review. Browse more wand vibrators if you want something bigger.
Skip it if: your clit is very sensitive and you want pinpoint, gentle touch. A wand is deep power; if you try one anyway, start through fabric.
6. Best tapping vibrator: Playboy Palm
$97.95 · dual motors: tapping plus vibration · 10 tapping and 10 vibration settings · waterproof
Tapping is a different feeling from buzzing: a quick, percussive knock on your clit. The Palm puts that on one end and classic vibration on the other, each with its own motor, so you can tap, buzz or run both at once and layer them into something fuller.
Each motor runs 10 speeds and rhythms. It's made of velvet-smooth silicone, only 3.86 inches tall, and shaped to nestle against your body so you can press it right on the spot without holding it at an awkward angle. You can grind on it, too. Waterproof, with no rating listed, and USB rechargeable.
Skip it if: you need it to work inside you. It's an external toy.
7. Best hands-free grinding: Inmi The Pulse Slider
$99.95 · grinding pad with a clit pulser · 4 speeds, 7 patterns · remote up to 16 feet · IPX7, submersible up to 30 minutes
If humping a pillow has ever gotten you off, this is the upgrade. Set the Pulse Slider on a chair, the couch, a bench or a stool, climb on and ride. As you rock on its ribbed mound, a dedicated pulser works your clit while buzzing vibration spreads across your lips and backside, in a long, rolling wave.
Your hands are free for your nipples, your partner or the headboard. The remote runs everything and reaches up to 16 feet, so you can pass it over and let someone else set the pace. It's 9.5 inches long and 4.3 inches wide, IPX7 and submersible for up to 30 minutes, which makes cleanup easy. Lube the mound and the pulser with water-based lube before you ride. More riding toys live in our grinding sex toys, and our VibePad comparison covers another family of pads.
Skip it if: you want a toy you can hold and aim. This one works with your hips, not your hand.
8. Best wearable: Double Love Connection Panty Vibe
$70.95 · external clit pad plus internal egg · 3 speeds, 7 patterns · remote up to about 19.7 feet
This is the one for hands-free, wearable play and for handing someone else the controls. A soft silicone pad sits against your clit, held to your underwear by a magnetic heart clip, while a corded egg slips inside for G-spot vibration. Two motors, one remote, and your partner can be across the room deciding when you squirm.
You get 3 speeds plus 7 patterns, the remote reaches up to about 19.7 feet, and both the vibe and the remote recharge over USB. The pad is 3.5 by 1.85 inches and the egg is 2.6 by 1.2 inches. Wear it through a slow dinner at home, and try holding out until dessert. The product page lists no water rating, so wipe it clean rather than rinsing it under the tap. More options are in our vibrating panties collection.
Skip it if: you want a toy you hold and aim yourself.

9. Best for the shower: Womanizer Wave
$119.95 · shower head and water-massage clit stimulator · three water settings · step-less intensity slider
If you've ever gotten off with a shower head, the Wave is a shower head built for exactly that. It has three water settings: PowderRain for an everyday shower, PleasureWhirl for a sensual massage and PleasureJet for powerful, pulsating stimulation. A step-less slider on the head changes the water pressure with no sudden steps, from a tease to full intensity.
It works as a regular shower head the rest of the time, so it lives in your bathroom like any other shower head. One button flicks between settings and the head fits in one hand. Keep the water lukewarm, aim it at the outside of your vulva only (never inside), and start with the slider low.
Skip it if: you want to play anywhere but the bathroom.
10. Best suction for less: Lily Lover
$58.95 · suction cup plus vibrating tongue · 6 suction modes · tongue: 3 speeds, 7 patterns · IPX6
Two sensations for $58.95. A removable cup settles over your clit and pulls in 6 suction modes, and a 1-inch silicone tongue tucked inside buzzes in 3 speeds plus 7 patterns. The suction gathers you up and the tongue hums right against what it gathered. Feeling delicate? Lift the cup off and let the tongue buzz on its own.
The cup opening is 2.8 by 2.2 inches and the whole toy is 4.4 inches, small enough to tuck between you and a partner mid-sex. Lube up first, press it in place and let it take hold. It's IPX6: fine in the shower, but don't dunk it, and use water-based lube only. Want more toys like it? See our best rose toys and clit suckers.
Skip it if: you want a bath toy. IPX6 means splashes, not soaking.
Also worth a look
- Air pulse for less: the Womanizer Starlet 3 ($67.95) uses the same touchless Pleasure Air in a body about 4.6 inches long, with 6 intensity levels and IPX7. Expect about 30 minutes of play per charge.
- A rose that licks: the Rose Kisser ($53.95) swirls a soft 1-inch silicone tongue in slow circles, with separate licking and vibration settings and a lit display that shows which setting is running. IPX7.
- Flicking tips for less: the Blush Aria Flutter Tongue ($48.95) has soft silicone tips that flicker and flutter against your clit or nipples, with 7 vibration modes, in a body just 2.5 inches tall. Rinse it, don't soak it.
- A wand that costs less: the Femme Funn Ultra Wand Mini ($62.95) has a flexible head, 10 vibration settings (speeds and patterns combined), and a dedicated button for an extra burst of power at the end. Waterproof, 5.7 inches long.
- Air pulse plus G-spot for less: the ROMP Reverb ($66.95) is a rabbit that pairs Pleasure Air on your clit with an insertable G-spot arm: 10 air intensities, 3 vibration intensities and 7 patterns. IPX7.
- App-controlled and dual-ended: the Lovense Hyphy ($98.95) has a high-frequency clit end, a G-spot end and three attachments (Circle, U-shaped and Tongue), and runs from an app with music sync. IPX7.

How we picked
We're a sex toy store, so every pick here is something we sell. Here's how we chose, plainly.
- One pick per kind of touch. Air pulse, suction, rotation, clit plus G-spot, pinpoint vibration, rumble, tapping, grinding, wearing and water feel completely different, so we chose the toy we'd hand you first for each one instead of ten versions of the same thing.
- Specs over adjectives. We compared settings, motors, water ratings, charge times, size and price from each product page, and every spec on this page comes from those pages.
- In stock. Everything here was in stock when we wrote this.
- Real numbers only. Every statistic comes from a named journal study.
Air pulse, suction, licking or vibration: what each one feels like
"Clit vibrator" covers very different toys. Knowing the sensation you want is the fastest way to the right one.
Air pulse is what many toys sold as clit suckers use. The toy's soft mouth sits over your clit and pushes pulses of air in and out of a small chamber, so it sucks and massages without anything touching the glans. It feels like a quick, fluttering pull, which is why people call these toys clit suckers. It's not a vacuum and it doesn't need to be pressed hard. It works best with a gentle seal: center the mouth over your clit, smooth a thin ring of water-based lube around the rim and let it rest there.
Suction toys like the Lily Lover pull with a cup that gathers your clit up. Some add a second sensation inside, like the Lily Lover's vibrating tongue. Many rose toys use suction or air pulse. Our rose toy guide covers positioning them in detail.
Licking and rotating toys add motion on top of vibration. A rotating nub (the Ora 3) or a licking or fluttering tongue strokes your clit over and over in the same pattern, which is why people reach for them when they want something like oral sex. See all our tongue vibrators.
Vibration is the classic: a motor shakes the toy, and the toy passes it into you. Bullets focus it on a small spot. Wands spread it over a wider area.
Tapping and pulsing toys add a knock or a pulse on top of vibration. The Playboy Palm taps; the Pulse Slider's pulser throbs under you as you ride.
Wearables sit in your underwear and leave your hands free. Water toys use a stream of water, no buzz at all.
| Type | What it feels like | Best for | We'd pick |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air pulse | A fluttering, sucking pull with nothing on the glans | Focused, touchless clit play | Womanizer Premium 2 |
| Suction plus tongue | A gathering pull with a buzz inside | Two sensations at once | Lily Lover |
| Rotating or licking | Repeated swirling strokes | An oral-sex feel | LELO Ora 3 |
| Bullet | Pinpoint vibration | Precision and partnered sex | We-Vibe Tango X |
| Wand | Deep rumble | Trying rumbly instead of buzzy | Magic Wand Mini |
| Tapping | A quick, drumming knock | Variety and layering | Playboy Palm |
| Grinding pad | Pressure and vibration you ride | Hands-free, hip-led orgasms | Inmi The Pulse Slider |
| Wearable | A tease you can wear | Remote play with a partner | Double Love Connection |
| Clit plus G-spot | Two areas at once | Blended orgasms | Womanizer Duo 2 |
| Water | A steady spray or pulsing jets | Shower play | Womanizer Wave |

Rumbly or buzzy: how to tell before you buy
This is the question that decides whether you love a vibrator or shove it in a drawer.
- Rumbly means deep, low, thudding vibration that feels like it goes deeper than the skin. If vibrators have felt tickly, rumbly is worth a try. Product pages describe it with words like deep, rumbly or "not a shallow buzz".
- Buzzy means faster, higher, lighter vibration that sits on the surface. It can feel sharp and electric, and some people love that, especially through a layer of fabric or on the hood.
How do you tell from a listing? Look for the words. On this list, the We-Vibe Tango X and the Magic Wand Mini both describe deep, rumbly vibration, and the Womanizer Duo 2 describes deep, rumbly vibration on its G-spot arm. The Lily Lover's tongue and the Pulse Slider's vibration are described as buzzing, which on its own doesn't tell you much. If a page uses neither word, it doesn't say, and you shouldn't assume. Our rumbly vibrators collection gathers the deep ones in one place.
If every vibrator you've tried felt tickly or just too much, don't give up on toys. Try a rumbly wand through your underwear, or try air pulse instead.
How to choose a clit vibrator
Start with what your clit already likes, then match it.
- Very sensitive? Go indirect. Air pulse never touches the glans (the Womanizer Premium 2), and most vibrating toys feel gentler through the hood or your underwear.
- Need a lot of intensity? A wand (the Magic Wand Mini) or a rumbly bullet (the Tango X). Try deep, broad power before cranking a small buzzy toy to its top setting.
- Want your hands free? Ride a grinding pad (the Pulse Slider) or wear a panty vibe (the Double Love Connection).
- Want it during penetration? A small bullet fits between bodies. A rabbit or the Duo 2 does both jobs on its own.
- Playing with a partner? A remote (the Double Love Connection, the Pulse Slider) or an app-controlled toy. See our app-controlled toys.
- Love the bath or shower? Read the water rating. IPX7 means submersible. IPX6 means splashes and showers, not soaking. "Waterproof" with no rating: do what its page says (the Palm's page says waterproof with no rating; save long soaks for IPX7 toys). If a page says nothing about water, keep it dry.
- Travel a lot? Small, rechargeable, travel lock: the Tango X.
- First toy ever? A bullet or a small air-pulse toy, and our best vibrators for beginners guide.
Know your clit: why these toys work
The clit is much bigger than the little bead you can see. The visible tip, the glans, sits under the hood where your inner lips meet. Behind it, a shaft runs up under the skin toward your pubic bone, two legs run back along your pubic bones, and two bulbs lie along both sides of your vaginal opening, under your lips. That's why a toy can feel connected to your clit in many spots on your vulva, and why a wand on your mound works for some people as well as a bullet on the glans.
| Spot | Where it is | Toy type that fits |
|---|---|---|
| Clit glans | The tip, under the hood | Air pulse; light, indirect vibration |
| Clit hood | The fold of skin over the glans | Bullets, tapping, rotating nubs |
| Clit shaft | Under the skin above the glans | Up-and-down strokes with a bullet or tongue |
| Inner and outer lips | Either side of the opening | Wands, grinding pads |
| Mound | The soft, padded area over your pubic bone | Wands, broad vibration |
| Vaginal entrance | The first inch or so inside | Shallow strokes with a fingertip or the tip of a toy made to go inside |
| G-spot area | The front wall, a couple of inches in, toward your belly | Rabbits and dual toys |
Pressure: start lighter than you think. In the same survey of US women (Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, 2018), most preferred light or medium pressure on the vulva; only 10.7% preferred firm pressure, and 15.9% said all pressures felt good.
Shape: in that survey, the two touch styles more than half of women preferred were up and down (63.7%) and circular (51.6%). A toy keeps the sensation steady while you make the stroke.
How to use a clit vibrator, step by step
First time with a clit toy, or just want it to work better? Here's the whole thing in eight steps.
- Charge it and learn the buttons first. Before you're naked and close, not after.
- Warm up without it. Touch your neck, nipples, belly and inner thighs. Arousal makes your clit swell and more ready for a toy.
- Add water-based lube. A coin-sized drop on the toy or your vulva. For air pulse, a little around the rim of the mouth helps it seal.
- Start gentle. With a vibrating toy, start over your underwear or the hood: fabric or skin between the toy and the glans softens the first contact. Air-pulse toys need skin contact, so skip the fabric and start on the lowest level.
- Use the lowest setting. You can always go up. Starting high is the fastest way to "too much".
- Explore around your clit before you settle. Beside the glans, along the shaft, on your lips, on the mound. Notice where your hips push back.
- Find the spot, then stay. When something works, don't chase a better setting. Hold the toy still and steady, and let the feeling build.
- Ride it out. As you come, ease off or keep going, whatever feels right. Your clit may be too sensitive for direct contact right after, so lift the toy away or drop to the lowest setting.
Feeling a little numb afterward? See the troubleshooting section below.
Your first session with a new toy. Give it twenty unhurried minutes, door locked, phone face down. Spend the first five learning the buttons and touching it to your inner thigh so you know how each setting feels. Spend the next ten exploring, through your underwear first if it vibrates (on bare skin for air pulse), then without it. Use the last five to go back to the one spot and setting that made your hips move, and stay there. If you don't come the first time, that's fine: you've just learned what your new toy does.

9 clit vibrator techniques to try
1. The hover
For air pulse. Center the mouth over your clit with a gentle seal, no pressing, and let the toy do all the work. Tilt it a few degrees to change which side of the glans gets the pull. Breathe slowly and let your thighs fall open, so the seal holds. Try it with: the Womanizer Premium 2 or the Duo 2.
2. Slow circles
Trace small circles around the glans with a bullet or a tongue toy, never directly on top. Speed up the circles, not the setting, as you get closer, and switch direction if one side starts to feel dull. Try it with: the We-Vibe Tango X.
3. Up and down the shaft
Glide a bullet up and down along the shaft, from just above the glans to your pubic bone. It's one of the two touch styles more than half of women preferred in the survey above, and with a toy you can keep it steady for as long as it takes. Try it with: the We-Vibe Tango X, tip pointed up.
4. The hood glide
Rest the toy on the hood and move the hood instead of the toy: press gently and roll the skin over the glans in tiny strokes. Great on the lowest setting for sensitive clits, and a sneaky way to warm up before going direct. Try it with: the LELO Ora 3 or a bullet.
5. Tapping
With the Playboy Palm or a bullet, touch and lift, touch and lift, in a steady beat on the hood or beside the glans. The pauses make each touch land harder. Speed the beat up as you build, then hold the toy still and let the tapping motor take over. Try it with: the Playboy Palm.
6. Press and hold
With a wand, press the head gently into your mound or across your lips and hold it still. Let the rumble spread through the whole area instead of moving it around. Squeeze your thighs around the head when you're close. Try it with: the Magic Wand Mini.
7. Pairing
Hold a clit toy in place while something else is inside you: fingers, a dildo, a partner. In a US national survey of 3,017 women (PLOS ONE, 2021), 69.7% said they orgasm more often or enjoy penetration more with Pairing, touching their own clit with a finger or toy while being penetrated. Try it with: the Tango X between your bodies, or the Lily Lover.
8. The blended
Clit and G-spot at once, with a dual toy like the Womanizer Duo 2 or a clit toy plus a G-spot toy. Start with the clit side, add the G-spot side when you're warm and wet, and rock the toy gently instead of thrusting it. Try it with: the Womanizer Duo 2. Our best G-spot vibrators guide has more inside picks.
9. Edging
Build until you're right at the edge, then lift the toy away or click it down. Wait until the urge fades a little, then go again. It stretches the build-up out, and buttons make it easy. Here's our full edging guide. Try it with: anything with buttons, or give a partner the remote and make them decide.
Using a clit vibrator during sex
A clit toy in partnered sex isn't a replacement for anyone. It's an extra pair of hands that never gets tired. Remember the survey up top: plenty of women in it needed clit stimulation to come during intercourse.
Bring it up outside the bedroom. "I want to try my vibrator while you're inside me" is a hot sentence, not a complaint. Show your partner the toy, let them hold it, hand them the remote. Agree on a simple signal for "less" and "stop", and check in as you go.
Not sure what to say? Try one of these, word for word:
- "I come so much harder with my vibrator. Want to watch, then help?"
- "Keep going exactly like that. I'm going to hold this on my clit."
- "Here's the remote. You're in charge tonight."
Decide who holds it. You know your clit best, so you might hold it while your partner focuses on everything else. Or give them control and tell them out loud what to do: lighter, left, stay right there. Remote toys take the question off the table.
Pick a shape that fits. Small toys (a bullet, the Lily Lover) slide between two bodies. A wearable is for before sex: the Double Love Connection's egg goes inside, so take it out before penetration. A grinding pad is for riding solo while your partner holds the remote. Our best sex toys for couples and best app-controlled vibrators guides have more picks built for two.
| Position | How the toy fits | Try |
|---|---|---|
| Missionary | Slide a small toy between your bodies, on your clit | We-Vibe Tango X |
| Spooning | Your top hand holds the toy in front while they're behind you | Womanizer Premium 2 |
| Cowgirl | You're on top with both hands free to hold the toy on your clit | Lily Lover |
| Doggy | Reach under yourself, or your partner reaches around | We-Vibe Tango X |
| Legs up | On your back, legs on their shoulders, toy resting on your mound | Magic Wand Mini |
| Edge of the bed | You lie back at the edge while they stand or kneel | Playboy Palm |
| Before sex | Wear it under your clothes at home while they hold the remote | Double Love Connection |

Cleaning, lube and charging, by toy type
- Lube first. Water-based lube is safe with every toy material and with condoms. Silicone lube can damage silicone toys, so patch-test or stick to water-based. Oil breaks down latex condoms and soft toy materials. Find a water-based one in our lube collection.
- Air-pulse and suction toys. Lube and body fluids collect inside the mouth. After each use, rinse the mouth with warm water and gentle soap, and if the head comes off (the Premium 2 comes with two), take it off and wash it separately. Shake out the water and let it dry with the mouth facing down.
- Licking and tongue toys. Wash the tongue or nub and the crease around its base, where lube hides. The Ora 3 lists no water rating, so use a damp cloth on it.
- Bullets, wands and palm toys. Wipe the outside with a cloth, warm water and a drop of gentle soap, or spritz on toy cleaner. Don't put a toy under running water unless its page says it can get wet.
- Panty vibes and pads. Wash the parts that touch you. If its page says nothing about water, use a damp cloth with gentle soap, never a soak.
- Respect the water rating. IPX7 means submersible. IPX6 means a rinse or a shower, not a soak. No water information listed means no rinsing.
- Charge before you need it. Top it up before date night, not during. Toy won't charge at all? Our vibrator won't charge guide walks through the fixes.
- Sharing a toy? Toys can pass infections from one body to another. Put a condom on anything that moves between bodies, and change it each time. Here's how to use a condom on a sex toy. Never move a toy from your ass to your vagina or mouth without washing it or changing the condom.
- Store it clean and dry, in a pouch or a drawer, with the travel lock on if it has one.
Troubleshooting: when it isn't working
It's too intense. Drop to the lowest setting, go indirect (beside the glans or over the hood), or, with a vibrating toy, put a layer of fabric between you and the toy. Air pulse too strong? Drop to its lowest intensity and keep it on bare skin.
I felt numb afterward. It happens. In the Journal of Sexual Medicine study (2009) of US women who had used a vibrator, 71.5% had never had a genital side effect from one. 16.5% had felt genital numbness at some point, and 0.5% said it lasted a day or longer. The researchers described the most common side effects as mild and transient. If numbness doesn't fade, talk to your doctor.
I get close but can't finish. Stop changing things. When it feels good, hold the toy exactly where it is at exactly that setting. If it still won't happen, switch sensation type (air pulse instead of vibration, or the reverse), add penetration, or edge on purpose and let the pressure build. Only able to come with a vibrator and want more ways? Read situational anorgasmia without relying on vibrators.
The air-pulse mouth won't seal or keeps slipping. Center the opening on the glans (the hood can stay where it is), use a little lube around the rim and less on the toy itself, and grip the toy at its base. If it never fits, try the other head size if yours came with one, or a different toy.
It's too loud for shared walls. Muffle it with a sheet or a pillow, run a fan, play music, or try a lower setting.
Nothing works and it never has. That's information, not failure. Try a different type of touch entirely, or talk to your doctor if you've never had an orgasm or it suddenly got much harder.
Clit vibrator FAQ
What is the best clit vibrator?
For most people, the Womanizer Premium 2. It uses pulses of air to suck and massage your clit without touching the glans, with 14 intensity levels, Autopilot, two head sizes and IPX7. For an oral-sex feel, the LELO Ora 3; for deep rumble, the Magic Wand Mini; for less money, the Lily Lover. See all ten picks.
What is a clit vibrator, and how is it different from a regular vibrator?
Most clit vibrators work from the outside; a few, like the Womanizer Duo 2, add an inside arm. Many use air pulse, suction or water instead of plain vibration, or add licking or tapping on top of it, and their shapes are made to sit on or over the clit. A regular vibrator is often shaped to go inside, too, like a rabbit or a G-spot vibe.
Do clit suckers actually suck?
Not quite. Many toys sold as clit suckers are air-pulse toys: they push pulses of air in and out over your clit, which feels like sucking and fluttering without anything touching the glans. A few, like the Lily Lover, use a cup that pulls. Both need only a gentle seal, never hard pressure.
What is the best clit vibrator for beginners?
A small toy you can start on its lowest setting. A bullet such as the We-Vibe Tango X: easy to aim, and easy to bring into sex later. A small air-pulse toy is a gentle way to try air pulse. Start low, and with a vibrating toy, start through your underwear. More in our beginner sex toys.
What's the difference between rumbly and buzzy vibration?
Rumbly vibration is deep and low and feels like it goes deeper than the skin; buzzy vibration is faster, lighter and sits on the surface. If vibrators have felt tickly, rumbly is worth a try. Pages that say deep or rumbly mean rumbly. A page that only says buzz or buzzing doesn't tell you much, so don't assume either way.
Can a clit vibrator make you numb?
It can. In a 2009 Journal of Sexual Medicine study of US women who had used a vibrator, 16.5% had felt genital numbness at some point, and 0.5% said it lasted a day or longer. The researchers described the most common side effects as mild and transient. If numbness doesn't go away, talk to your doctor.
Can you use a clit vibrator during sex?
Yes. Bring it up before you start, then a small toy slides between your bodies in missionary, you can hold it in spooning or cowgirl, and a wearable can tease you before sex. Agree on a signal for "less" and "stop" first. See the positions table.
Can I use my clit vibrator in the bathtub or shower?
Only if its page says so. IPX7 toys, like the Womanizer Premium 2, the Tango X and the Pulse Slider, are submersible. IPX6, like the Lily Lover, means showers and splashes, not soaking. For the shower itself, the Womanizer Wave is a shower head with pleasure settings.
What lube should I use with a clit vibrator?
Water-based. It's safe with every toy material and with condoms, it helps air-pulse toys seal, and it rinses off easily. Silicone lube can damage silicone toys, so patch-test or skip it, and keep oil away from condoms and soft toys. Shop our lube.
How do you clean a clit vibrator?
Every time you use it, wash it: warm water and a little gentle soap, or a spray of toy cleaner. Then leave it out until it's bone dry. For air-pulse toys, rinse inside the mouth and remove the head if it comes off. If the toy's page says nothing about water, use a damp cloth instead of rinsing. Always follow the toy's own instructions.
Can you put a clit vibrator inside you?
Only if it's made for it. The air-pulse heads on this list and the Playboy Palm are made for outside use. For inside play, choose a toy built for it, like a rabbit or the Double Love Connection's egg. None of the toys on this list are made for anal, and anything that goes in your ass needs a flared base.
Are expensive clit vibrators worth it?
Sometimes. On this list, price doesn't track features: the Premium 2 adds Autopilot and a second head size, the Ora 3 lists no water rating or play time, and the Tango X is IPX7 with about 120 minutes per charge. But the right type of sensation matters more than the price: a simple bullet that suits your clit beats a pricier toy that doesn't. Pick the feel first, then the features.
What if a clit vibrator doesn't work for me?
Switch the sensation, not just the setting. If vibration feels like too much, try air pulse. If air pulse feels like too much, try a rumbly wand through fabric. Some clits prefer fingers, tongues or grinding, and that's normal too.
How many women need clitoral stimulation to orgasm?
More than a third need it to orgasm during intercourse, in one national survey. In that survey of 1,055 US women (Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, 2018), 36.6% said they needed clitoral stimulation to orgasm during intercourse, another 36% said it wasn't needed but made their orgasms feel better, and only 18.4% said intercourse alone was enough.
Can you use a clit vibrator while pregnant?
Talk to your doctor or midwife first. Whether toys and orgasm are fine for you depends on your pregnancy and your history, and they know both. Ask about external toys specifically, so you get a clear answer. If you notice pain or bleeding at any point, stop and contact them right away.
The bottom line
The best clit vibrator is the one that matches how your clit likes to be touched. Air pulse for a focused, touchless pull. A rotating nub for an oral-sex feel. A bullet for precision, a wand for rumble, a pad for riding, a wearable for play with a partner. Start low, use lube, find the spot and stay there.
