What is a clit sucker?
Put simply, a clit sucker is a clitoral toy built around a small, soft opening: rest it over the clitoris and it stimulates with suction or pulses of air instead of direct contact. Also searched as a clit suction toy, clitoral suction vibrator or air-pulse stimulator. Many add vibration, a little tongue or a shaft for inside. Two licking and stroking clitoral vibrators here use touch instead.
How does a clit sucker work?
Once the rim sits flat, it seals lightly around the clitoris. A small motor moves the air inside that seal in and out in quick pulses (the Womanizer and ROMP listings call it Pleasure Air), so you feel changing pressure, a pull and release, not a humming surface. Higher intensity levels make each pulse stronger; add-ons bring a second sensation.
Types of clit suckers and clitoral vibrators
Six kinds, by how they work.
Air-pulse clit suckers
Pleasure Air on the clitoris, nothing else. The Womanizer Starlet 3 measures about 4.6 inches and has 6 intensity levels; IPX7. The Womanizer Classic 2 has 10; a short press on its power button drops it to the lowest for a gentle finish (Afterglow). The Womanizer Premium 2 has 14, Autopilot to move between them, and Smart Silence, running only while it touches skin. Those two each include two head sizes. More luxury sex toys.
Suction rose toys
These hide the suction opening among silicone petals. The Bloomgasm Enchanted Rose has a half-inch mouth, 3 suction levels and 7 patterns, and charges in a clear case. The double-ended Bloomgasm Passion Petals pairs a 0.5-inch mouth (10 levels) with a ridged vibrating shaft, 4 inches insertable. The Lily Lover, a lily, has a removable cup with 6 suction modes over a 1-inch silicone tongue that vibrates (3 speeds, 7 patterns). More rose toys.
Licking and tongue clitoral vibrators
Not every clitoral vibrator sucks. The Rose Kisser moves a 1-inch silicone tongue in circles, with 3 speeds and 6 patterns each for the licking and the vibration, and a lit display shows the setting. The Fondle rose strokes with two textured nubs over vibration (3 speeds, 7 patterns). Contact plus pull? The Destiny layers a fluttering tongue and vibration over suction, on three motors with 15 patterns each. More tongue vibrators.
Clit suckers with a G-spot shaft
Suction outside, vibration inside. The Womanizer Duo 2 rabbit pairs Pleasure Air with a flexible G-spot arm: 14 intensity levels, 10 vibration patterns. The ROMP Reverb rabbit has 10 air settings, 3 vibration intensities, 7 patterns and a travel lock. The Butterfly Tease pairs a half-inch mouth (10 suction modes) with a bendy 3.6-inch shaft and a remote that works up to 26 feet away. The compact AdultLuxe Sexy Squirrel adds a vibrating G-spot section (10 patterns). More rabbit vibrators.
Hands-free clitoral vibrators
Hands-free clitoral vibrators stay put on their own. The Twitch is a small cup lined with two little tongues and fine hairs, with 4 suction modes and 10 vibration speeds, and it runs quietly. The Lily Lover is petite enough to fit between partners during sex. More couples sex toys.
Suction for more than the clit
The Gender X Body Kisses has a suction opening for any erogenous zone (7 speeds) on one side and a vibrating grinding pad (7 speeds) on the other. The Womanizer OG moves Pleasure Air inside the body: its curved shape aims pressure waves at the G-spot, with 12 air-intensity levels and separate vibration. More G-spot vibrators.
How to choose a clit sucker
- Suction or licking. Suction works through pressure; tongues and nubs touch (Rose Kisser, Fondle rose). The Lily Lover, Twitch and three-motor tongue toy do both.
- Opening and head size. Half an inch: Enchanted Rose, Passion Petals, Butterfly Tease. 0.6 inch: Squirrel. 2.8 by 2.2 inches: the Lily Lover's cup. Two heads: Classic 2, Premium 2.
- Intensity range. Starlet 3: 6 levels; Classic 2: 10; Premium 2 and Duo 2: 14. Start on the lowest.
- Something inside. A G-spot shaft or section: Duo 2, ROMP Reverb, Butterfly Tease, Squirrel, Passion Petals. None is for anal play.
- Hands-free or held. The Twitch is hands-free; the Butterfly Tease's remote passes control to a partner.
- Water. IPX7, IP67 and fully waterproof: bath. IPX6 and splashproof: shower only (see the FAQ).
- Charging and run time. Starlet 3: about 30 minutes of play from about 30 of charging. Classic 2: 180 from 120. Premium 2: up to 240 from 120. Twitch: 60 from about 120.
How to use a clit sucker
- Charge it, then wash it before you start.
- Water-based lube on the rim and on you helps it seal.
- Switch on at the lowest setting before it touches you.
- Part your lips; settle the opening flat over the clitoris, lightly sealed, not pressed.
- Tilt it until the pulses land right, then go up one level at a time.
- Add the shaft, tongue or vibration if it has one; lube any shaft and go slowly.
- Lift it off at any discomfort or numbness. With a partner, agree who holds the controls; stop at once when asked.
Cleaning, care and charging
- After every use, rinse the opening and head under warm water and a little mild soap, or use toy cleaner; the Lily Lover's cup lifts off.
- Water. Submerge only IPX7, IP67 and fully waterproof toys, and never put the Enchanted Rose in the tub.
- Lube. Water-based for silicone toys, since silicone lube can harm silicone.
- Store dry. The Enchanted Rose lives in its charging case; the ROMP Reverb has a travel lock.
- Charge only when dry, on the included cable; the Passion Petals for 2 hours at most.
- Talk to your doctor about numbness that doesn't fade, or if you're pregnant.
Clit sucker FAQ
How do you use a clit sucker?
Lube, seal, start low, build. Put water-based lube on the rim and on you, switch on at the lowest level, and rest the opening flat over the clitoris until it holds; tilt until the pulses land right, then step up slowly.
Is a clit sucker better than a vibrator?
Neither; they just feel different. A clit sucker works through changing pressure without touching the clitoris, while a vibrator hums against it. Find a direct buzz too sharp? Try suction. The Lily Lover, the Twitch and the Squirrel do both.
Does a clit sucker hurt?
It shouldn't. Start on the lowest level, lube the rim, and rest the opening lightly rather than pushing it in. Sore, pinched or numb? Lift it off and rest. Talk to your doctor about pain or numbness that doesn't fade.
Can you use a clit sucker in the bath?
Only some. Bath: the IPX7 Starlet 3, Classic 2, Premium 2, Duo 2, ROMP Reverb, Rose Kisser and Fondle rose (up to 30 minutes), the IP67 Twitch, and the fully waterproof Squirrel and OG. Shower only: the IPX6 Lily Lover and Butterfly Tease, the splashproof Body Kisses and the Passion Petals. The Enchanted Rose isn't for the tub at all.
Are clit suckers good for beginners?
They can be: they need little technique. The small Starlet 3 offers 6 intensity levels; the Enchanted Rose, 3 suction levels. Start on the lowest setting and keep early sessions short. More beginner sex toys.
Can you use a clit sucker with a partner?
Easily. The Twitch is hands-free, the Lily Lover fits between you during sex, and the Butterfly Tease's remote works up to 26 feet away. Settle limits and a stop word beforehand; the person receiving sets them, and everyone stops the second it's used.
Can you use a clit sucker on your nipples?
Only some. The Body Kisses' suction side is made for any erogenous zone, and you can trace the Fondle rose around your nipples first. Most of the rest are shaped for the clitoris or the G-spot; wash a toy before moving it between body parts.
How do you clean a clit sucker?
With a little mild soap under warm water, or toy cleaner, after every use, opening and head included; lift off the Lily Lover's cup first. Only IPX7, IP67 or fully waterproof toys go under water. Dry it fully.
